PEDORTHIC SERVICES

WHAT IS A PEDORTHIST?

A pedorthist is a lower limb specialist who is trained in the assessment, casting and manufacturing of custom made foot orthotics, as well as footwear fitting and modifications.

As defined by the Pedorthic Association of Canada, “Canadian Certified  Pedorthists – C. Ped (C) – are foot orthotic and orthopaedic footwear experts. They are one of the few healthcare professionals trained in the assessment of lower limb anatomy and muscle and joint function.

With specialized education and training in foot orthotics and footwear, Canadian Certified Pedorthists help to alleviate pain, abnormalities and debilitating conditions of the lower limbs and feet.”

Canadian Certified Pedorthists are regulated by the College of Pedorthics of Canada to “ensure that certified members are accountable to the highest standards of practice through our certification of members and facilities, the monitoring of continued competency and the enforcement of ethical conduct.”

For more information, the Pedorthic Association of Canada has a great blog about what a pedorthist is:  blog link.
